Australian architect Angelo Candalepas achieved widespread recognition for his winning entry in the 1994 international competition for housing at the Point in Sydney’s Pyrmont neighborhood. Over the next twenty-five years, his Sydney-based firm, Candalepas Associates, has won numerous awards and industry accolades and been widely praised. The first full book dedicated to Candalepas features a selection of the firm’s key designs through photographs, plans, elevations, drawings, and sketches.

Contemporary Architecture, Monograph
Description
Drawing inspiration from past masters of architecture, such as Louis I. Kahn, Carlo Scarpa, and Le Corbusier, as well as eminent Australian architects like Glenn M. Murcutt, Richard Johnson, and Colin Madigan, Candalepas has incorporated their legacy into a wholly original body of work of a quality rarely found in Australian contemporary architecture. Completed buildings that mark milestones in the firm’s development are featured alongside unrealized projects, offering insight into the firm’s future trajectory. The book also includes essays by Spanish architect and educator Alberto Campo Baeza and Sydneybased architect and critic Laura Harding, as well as an essay by Candalepas himself. A comprehensive, lavishly illustrated survey, Angelo Candalepas: Buildings and Projects celebrates the outstanding achievements of Candalepas Associates to date.

Angelo Candalepas trained at University of Technology Sydney and worked with Colin Madigan at Edwards Madigan Torzillo and with Graham Jahn before establishing his own firm, Candalepas Associates, in 1994. He is also visiting professor of architecture at the University of New South Wales.
